Daughter Had Tonsillectomy today

My 15 year old Daughter has had problems with getting strep throat quite often for quite an few years. This last year she was getting it about every two months. Finally her doctor agreed it was probably best to get her refereed to an ENT to see if they should come out.

We went to the ENT and he said she was all swollen up and they needed to come out. So yesterday we had her at the outpatient office at 7:30 am. They came in at 8:50 to take her in to the O.R, she wanted me to go with her but they told her I could not. As they were wheeling her out her tears started flowing. I felt so bad but I knew in the long run this was the best thing to do for her future health.

Around 10:30 the brought her back into her room. She was feeling no pain has she had been given morphine. She was a chatty, silly little thing. Around noon we got to leave the hospital.

So far she has been in a little pain but the pain meds have helped. She has been drinking lots of fluid and she has ate quite a bit. Jello, Ice cream, Mashed Potatoes, Ravioli and even a few chips.

She is sleeping right now hopefully she sleeps through the night. All in all so far the horror stories we heard about get your tonsils taken out have not proven to be true. At least not for her and I sure hope it does not. I know she still has a lot of pain she will probably go through but I am hoping it will stay minimal as it has so far.
